The Liebherr works in Nenzing celebrates its 35th anniversary

From 29 September to 1 October 2011, Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH celebrated its 35th anniversary. The festivities were concluded in the Austrian town of Nenzing with an open day attended by more than 20,000 visitors. Consequently, the expectations that had already been high were completely exceeded.

As a prelude to the celebrations, a formal ceremony was held on Wednesday, 28 September, which was attended by numerous representatives from business and politics, as well as by many long-standing business partners. On the second day, Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH welcomed about 500 customers from the around the world.

The open day turned into a special showcase for the works. Visitors enjoyed a varied program consisting of tours of the works, demonstrations of equipment, multivision shows, information booths and much more.

The tour of the works covered all production plants and gave visitors an insight into cutting-edge production technologies such as robotic manufacturing. The visitors also had the opportunity of experiencing large machines like mobile dock cranes and offshore cranes up close for themselves. As part of the demonstration of the equipment, they were also shown at the test bench how mobile dock cranes weighing up to 600 tonnes handle container movement or move heavy loads with millimetre precision whilst used in tandem. On exhibition were numerous civil engineering machines and special civil engineering machines from the field of construction machinery, which demonstrated a variety piling and drilling procedures at the works' new drilling test bench.

However, the focus was not only on the size of the cranes and the production plants, but on the innovative power of the company as well. In a separate pavilion for technology, new developments in the fields of control and drive technology were presented. One of the highlights was the presentation of the first hydraulic hybrid drive system for mobile dock cranes, which enables increased handling capacity combined with reduced fuel consumption.

In a multivision show specifically designed for the event, visitors were able to experience a unique interaction between humans and technology for the whole family.

With this unique display of performance for the region, Liebherr clearly demonstrated its capacity for innovation as well as sending out a strong signal as a top employer and training company in the Austrian federal state of Vorarlberg.
