GECCO2 has completed the installation and commissioning of a 180kW heating and cooling system for the University of Nottingham’s Science & Engineering Building.

The ‘reversible’ ground source heat-pump system, which can cool as well as heat, will provide base load heating that will be supplemented by a district heating system.

The system will provide 100% of the building’s cooling requirements.

GECCO2  worked closely with main contractor Mansell and the M&E contractor, J Tomlinson, to complete the project on budget and on time, ready for the start of the new semester in September.

Speaking about the project, GECCO2 managing director Matt Love said: “We have installed a number of these systems for the University of Nottingham – the Science and Engineering Building is just the latest.
“It is great to see an institution embracing the benefits that ground source heating and cooling systems can play in contributing to a greener and more sustainable environment,”
