YS Park, Chairman of the Korea Olympic Committee and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, received the “2011 Proud NYU Alumnus Award,” which was presented by the New York University Korean Alumni Association during the association’s Year-end Party at COEX Intercontinental Hotel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on December 15.

The award, which marks the third event this year, is presented to a New York University alumnus in Korea who has made significant contributions to the development of the country. The association said, “Chairman Park has been making far-reaching efforts in Korea and around the world to elevate Korea’s stature in both the business and sports community,” adding, “Notably, as Chairman of the Korea Olympic Committee, Chairman Park has played a major role in attracting the 2018 Winter Olympics to Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province,” in explaining the reason for presenting him with the honor.

Chairman Park graduated from New York University School of Management in 1969, and has served as chairman of the Doosan Group and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as a member of the International Olympic Committee, and as Chairman of the International Judo Association, engaging in extensive activities not only in the business community but also the sports world.
