Tullow Oil announces excellent deep water prospect offshore Ghana

Tullow Oil TLW have indicated that its Tweneboa-3 appraisal well, in the Deepwater Tano licence offshore Ghana, has successfully encountered gas condensate in 'excellent quality sandstone reservoirs'.

Tullow added that the result of drilling Tweneboa-3 plus wireline logs and samples of reservoir fluids confirmed the Greater Tweneboa Area resource base potential.

Tweneboa-3, which is located 12 kilometres south-east from the Tweneboa-1 discovery well, was drilled by Deepwater Millennium drillship to total depth of 3,906 m in a water depth of over a mile deep at 1,601 metres.

Tullow operates the Deepwater Tano licence with a 49.95% stake in the prospect. Kosmos Energy Ghana have 18%, Anadarko Petroleum has 18%, Sabre Oil & Gas and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation GNPC hold remaining stakes.

Headquarted in Acton Town West London, Angus McCoss, Tullow Oil Exploration Director added "Tweneboa-3 was a bold appraisal step-out in a vast stratigraphic trap." In view of results "we can now move forward confidently to assess the development options for the Tweneboa and Enyenra fields in the Greater Tweneboa Area."
