Atlas Copco unveils advanced Hurricane booster and portable compressor

A new Hurricane booster and portable compressor have  been launched by Atlas Copco Portable Energy.

The company claimed that its new B7-41/1000 Hurricane booster has advanced operational, safety and maintenance features, which offer customers increased reliability and the lowest possible downtime.

Meanwhile, Atlas Copco said  that the new XAS 137 Kd portable compressor had been designed  to deliver increased reliability  and performance in applications such as construction work, pneumatic breakers and sandblasting.

With a capacity of 2,440cfm at a maximum discharge of 1,000psi,  the Hurricane booster is said to  be smaller and lighter than other units of the same class.

It delivers powerful performance with an extremely compact footprint, which measures 3.5m (139in) long by 2m (80in) wide and 1.8m (72in) high.

Driven by a Caterpillar C7 diesel engine, the Hurricane booster features a four-cylinder, single-stage, reciprocating booster.

Using a six-cylinder, turbo-charged drive engine, the booster provides higher flows and pressure for improved borehole drilling.

It also comes with a standard 24V starting and operating system.

The new XAS 137 Kd portable compressor unit features a  powerful Kubota engine, easy service and longer scheduled maintenance intervals.

This compact compressor, measuring 2,494mm long, 1,107mm wide and 1,114mm high, has a normal working pressure of 7bar.

Actual free air delivery is 138L/s and 8.3m³/min for the XAS 137 Kd (300) and 109L/s and 6.5m³/min for the XAS 137 Kd (300) DdG (with 12kVA generator included).

Fuel consumption is as low as 14.1L/h at 100% load, giving up to eight hours at full load from a full tank of fuel.

According to the company, the four-cylinder Kubota V3800 engine delivers a higher power margin  and is easy to service without special tools. With a sound power level of 99dB(A) and a sound pressure level of 71dB(A), the engine is also compliant with EU outdoor noise directive 2000/14/EC.

Two versions are available.  The XAS 137 Kd with COM 2 engine meets the exhaust emission standards of Tier/Stage 1 and 2  in countries such as Russia, China  and Brazil. The COM 3 engine is compliant with the Tier 3/Stage 3a standards that apply in the US, Europe and India.
