Hana Mining confirms high-grade copper-silver presence at Botswana project

Hana Mining has reported high grade copper-silver mineralisation at Zone 5 of its Ghanzi sediment-hosted Copper-Silver Project in Botswana, based on results from its latest drilling programme.

The company carried out infill and down dip drilling at six holes to convert NI 43-101 compliant resources within this zone into the indicated category from the inferred category.

The results, in addition to those used in the most recent NI 43-101 mineral resource calculation in May, indicate that the mineralisation remains open at depth and along strike.

Marek Kreczmer, Hana Mining CEO and chairman, who reviewed and approved the drilling results, said this first set of drilling results demonstrates that Zone 5 hosts high-grade copper-silver mineralisation over significant widths.

"Not only is the mineralisation consistent along strike, but it also shows consistency in widths and grades at depth," Kreczmer added.

"Of all the Zones at the Ghanzi Project, I believe that Zone 5 has the best potential to host an underground mining operation."

Located in the centre of the Kalahari Copper Belt in northwestern Botswana, the Ghanzi Copper-Silver Project covers 2,149km2 and contains sediment hosted copper-silver deposits with a demonstrated cumulative tested strike length of 70km.

In May 2012, the company released a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for the project which indicated a 10,000t per day open-pit mining and milling operation at the Banana Zone and Zone 5.
