Double celebration as Indian expansion and milestone marked

JCB Chairman Lord Bamford was today given a glimpse of the companys latest factories as they near completion in India.
Two plants are in the final stages of construction in Jaipur, Rajasthan, and with a combined floorspace of over 700,000 square feet, they will be at the heart of the single largest JCB production facility anywhere in the world.
Lord Bamford was joined at the special preview by two other generations of the Bamford family: his son Jo, who runs JCB Compact Products in Cheadle, Staffordshire, UK and Jos children Matilda, five, and Edward, three.
The family was also on hand to watch as Lord Bamfords 50 years service at JCB a milestone he reached last month was honoured with the planting of the final of 50 trees which are being positioned around the new plants to mark his landmark year.
The preview of the new factories on a 114 acre site - an investment of 62 million - was also enjoyed by customers, dealers, finance partners, supplier partners and several senior dignitaries from the industry. JCB, Indias largest manufacturer of construction equipment, will officially open the new plants later this year.
Lord Bamford said: When I look back at the last 50 years, one of the biggest single achievements of JCB is to have become a worldwide business. When I started in 1964 we had one small factory in the UK. When the two new factories in Jaipur open we will have 23. I am pleased to have been part of the growth we have enjoyed over the last 50 years. The Jaipur investment is one of the most ambitious investment projects that JCB has embarked on in recent years and is being planned to harness the long term growth opportunities of the construction equipment industry in India and help JCB strengthen its market leadership for construction equipment in the country.
JCB first entered India in 1979 by setting up a backhoe loader manufacturing operation in Ballabgarh, near Delhi, which following a substantial investment by JCB in recent years, is now home to the largest backhoe loader factory in the world. JCB India also set up two new factories in Pune to manufacture components as well as and tracked excavators, wheeled loading shovels and compaction equipment. JCB is using this extensive manufacturing footprint in India to export to Eastern Africa, the Middle East and South-East Asia.
Lord Bamford added: JCB's fifth factory in India gives an assurance that JCB will continue to invest in India because the opportunities here are immense. India is an important market for JCB and our investment in Jaipur is a vital step in growing our business here.
Mr. Vipin Sondhi, MD & CEO, JCB India added: The JCB India congratulates Lord Bamford on completing 50 years service with JCB. With customers at the very heart of all our initiatives, we will continue to manufacture products with one global quality and continue to expand our world class, professionally trained distribution network.
