Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction celebrates 50th anniversary, with visions for next 100 years

- Chairman Geewon Park stresses establishment of unique corporate culture for nurturing human resources
- Hosts various events, including Doosan Family Music Festival, ceremony to publish Company Almanac

□ Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (Chairman & CEO Geewon Park) held its 50th anniversary ceremony at the head office in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province on September 19, the eve of the Founding Day. More than 300 staff from Korea and overseas attended the event, and shared visions with Chairman Geewon Park, Vice Chairman Jitaik Chung, and President & COO Keysun Han of the Company, and Jean-Michel Aubertin of Doosan Power Systems.

□ In his commemorative speech, Chairman Park said, “In order to ensure continuous growth for more than 100 years, Doosan will nurture human resources based on its managerial philosophy that emphasizes on people, under its unique corporate culture,” adding, “To cultivate human resources, Doosan will strive to secure fundamental and strong competitiveness in products and technology, and improve our work processes, and systems.”

□ Established in 1962, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has spearheaded Korea’s machinery industry for the past five decades. The Company constructed its Changwon Plant and led the efforts to domestically develop and produce power plant equipments, making important contributions to the nation’s economic growth. Notably, since its privatization in 2001, Doosan has aggressively advanced into foreign markets, emerging as a global enterprise, and has thus earned a reputation as the most successful example of privatization both internally and externally.

□ Notably, Doosan has acquired a number of overseas companies, including Babcock of U.K., Skoda Power of Czech Republic, and AE&E Lentjes of Germany over the past several years, developing itself into a truly global enterprise. Chairman Park stressed, “In order for the diverse members of the Company to maximize synergistic effect, a ‘strong corporate culture’ is essential.”

□ The commemorative ceremony also involved an event to celebrate the publication of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction’s 50-year almanac. The almanac, titled “Creating Value for the World”, has been published in two volumes in Korean and one volume in English.

□ After the ceremony, Doosan held a ‘Doosan Family Music Festival’ at the Changwon Convention Center. The event, which brought together more than 6,500 staff and their family members, featured performances by famous singers including Lee Mun-se, Seong Si-gyeong, and Park Jeong-hyeon, a congratulatory performance video show, and a performance by the Changwon Municipal Boy’s & Girl’s Chorus.
