Gates on Growth Plans

To sustain the growth rate, Gates India has moved to new assembly facility in Ballabhgarh as it had out grown its earlier facility at Faridabad. "This will enhance our capacity two times. The single piece flow and better warehousing will bring higher productivity and efficiency. We also have plans to put up another hose assembly facility in Pune to be close to the customers developed in last couple of years Mr Rajesh Bhandari, Vice President Sales & Marketing said.

Gates India has witnessed over 40% growth in 2010 and production surpassed all previous records. The first half of 2011 witnessed continued strong growth and augurs well for the rest of the year. There is lower trajectory of growth from existing business but this is being compensated by adding sales from new customers and new products. The company hopes to meet the new challenges of the demanding hydraulic market as well as enhance its capacity of rubber compound manufacturing at its Lalru facility. The up gradation work is in full swing and is likely to be completed by early next year. 

Gates is presently selling hose, coupling, QRC, hose protection products, valves and clamps for the Industrial segments including heavy earth moving equipment industry. The company now plans to launch tube fittings, valves and quick connect couplings in 2011.

Gates has set up distribution in neighboring countries like Bhutan, Bangladesh & Nepal and plans to add Sri Lanka and Pakistan to the list by end of 2011.

Late last year Gates made foray into oil and gas sector and made its presence felt at the Oil & Gas Show, New Delhi. Company is strong player in Induction Furnace and petrol dispensing segment and is servicing specific need of the industries. Gates is venturing towards marine industry as well and its recent initiative of being the pioneer participant in the Cochin Shipyards’ CSR endeavor proves the same.

Mr. Raj Iyer, Business Manager, Aftermarket, Gates India Pvt. Ltd. conducted the first of its kind training seminar in a state of the art technology emnabled Mobile Safety Training Unit which is actually a bus which has been equipped with all required things like LCD projectors, two AC’s and LED TV to be used as a screen. The training seminar was delivered to 34 people from maintenance, engineering and transportation background regarding the advantages of the Gates products do’s, don’ts and the latest trends’ in the hydraulic hose industry.

This bus was sponsored by Cochin Shipyard and would be used by Government of Kerala for giving training across the state by the factories and boilers department to upgrade the skills of the employees of different industries by providing them training regarding the product operation and maintenance. Indus Trade Links , distributor of Gates Fluid Power for Kerela co-parternered the event.
