GECCO2 scoops energy pile dea

Ground-source specialist GECCO2, has won its largest geothermal energy piles contract to date.

The installation is for the new Leadenhall building in London, UK. The building covers an area of 55,740m2 and, once complete, it will stand 224.5m high. The ground-source installation is just one part of the overall project.

GECCO2 will install some of the UK’s largest-diameter energy piles, measuring 2.1m and 2.4m. Each pile will contain a total of 300m of collector pipe.

Matt Love, managing director of GECCO2, said: “The sheer size of the energy piles is what excites us about the Leadenhall project; it is an excellent showcase for GECCO2’s technical competency, as well as promoting the significance of ground-source heating and cooling and the contribution it can make to delivering sustainable energy.”

The project was awarded to Cement ation Skanska by The Leadenhall Development Co and the client specified GECCO2 for the geothermal installation.
